SPOTLIGHT X JOAO ROCHA

How did you get into dancing?

A friend that knew I enjoy dancing (like just moving and myself thinking I was any good at it when going to clubs) asked if I would join her for a Salsa Class… I did and it got me from the very 1st day.

What projects are you currently working on?

The Festivals as usual now, LIKE Festival in Lisbon, London, Frankfurt, Toma Toma in Bratislava and our daily project, Kizomba Fabrik, which is our dance school in Frankfurt, where we live for the past 3 and half years.

What’s been the most memorable moment of your journey as a dancer so far?

Hard to say… they are so many and they keep happening… I would say everytime I get an honest thank you and I feel the same after a dance, is a memorable moment for me. I’m grateful for all the people I dance with and enjoy dancing with me.

What advice would you give to up & coming dancers looking at you for inspiration?

Be humble (many people loose this after they get the feeling they start knowing how to dance or that are getting good at it), the more you invest in yourself the better outcome you’ll have and Never be afraid to do as many foundations classes as possible.

What can we expect from you for the rest of 2019?

Everything I do I put my heart and soul on it to provide the best in my possibilities, this is what you can expect from me this year and the following ones
